THE POODLES OF POTTER’S PEAK

This comic has the most unique journey from idea in my head to comic book (so far).

It started as an entry to a kids’ cereal company short story contest. I don’t remember which company put it on (a pretty good hint that I didn’t win the contest), but I’m so appreciative they held it.

I didn’t know if I’d ever do anything with it, but one night I was on social media, and saw that a writer/artist whose work I really liked named Jessi Sheron had an opening in her schedule.

I reached out to her and asked if she’d want to make something together. Her style is very fun and colorful, so I thought about things I had done that were more directly related to a child audience. At one point I realized I could probably adapt the Poodles story into a comic.

Jessi liked the idea and I started adapting.

I have very good editors I work with who help on all of our comics, but Cassandra Bell really made an especially powerful impact on The Poodles of Potter’s Peak. Up to and including suggesting the very last image the book ends on (so much better than what I had… though I don’t have any memory of what it was now LOL).

There is only one issue of The Poodles of Potter’s Peak produced so far, so I can’t give a free pdf of it, but I can get you a free pdf of the short story that predated it.
