The King of Hell has misplaced a possession. Unwilling to share, and unconcerned about the chaos he will create, he is sending demons to historically important dates to rip history apart in the hopes of finding it. One band of fighters - THE TOXIC FRUIT - stand in his way. Who will prevail, a ragtag group of agents comprised of the souls of murdered teenagers, or the full power of the kingdom of Hell?

The Toxic Fruit existed long before Kevin had any idea about them. Ludovic Sallé was writing and illustrating a comedic fantasy comic based on the adventures of Hell Strawberry.
Hell Strawberry was a being of extraordinary power and unpredictability. A Manic Pixie Demon Killer who can hop through time at her leisure. Hell Strawberry was sexy. She was fun. She was manifest chaos.
Thankfully she inspired Ludo to create a wildly inventive world that we call the Toxic Universe. Even more thankfully (for me at least), she led Ludo off into directions he couldn’t navigate any longer on his own. I was introduced to him through a mutual friend, Ana, who convinced Ludo to send me a few pages of his work to see if we could work together.
The artwork was amazing. I could tell this was a very high energy character, who had a ton of potential. But Ludo had done enough worldbuilding around her that I didn’t have a true way in to find a story about her.
Just before I gave up on the opportunity, I woke up around 3 am with an image in my head. A young woman waking up in an alley. She didn’t know where she was. She didn’t know when she was. But she knew if she was there, she needed to stop a demon from doing… something…
I got to work on what that “something” was and sent Ludo a script . Ludo liked it. Wanted to draw it. But he said, “This isn’t a Hell Strawberry story. She should be a new character.”
Shortly after, Tart Acid was born, and that script ended up being Tart #1.
